Dr Prem Kumar Shanmugam founded Solace with the vision of helping people with addictions recover and learn to live for life. He has worked in the field of addictions and psychology for over 10 years. Prem is the past President of the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (Singapore) and the Regional Ambassador of the Asia Pacific Certification Board (Singapore) while being a consultant for the Malaysian Substance Abuse Council. He is a consultant psychologist, psychotherapist, trainer and facilitator.
Prem has published widely in both local and international journals on topics related to addiction treatment and
authored two books. Prem is a certified practitioner in Management of Family Violence Counseling, Certified Clinical Supervisor, Certified Substance Abuse Therapist (Level 4) and a Certified Psychotherapist and Counsellor (Level 4).
He is actively involved in national and international projects related to addiction treatment and an
active consultant with government and non-government agencies in policy making related to addiction
treatment: National Anti-Drug Agencies (Malaysia, UAE, KSA); Ministry of Health Malaysia, Volunteer
Welfare Organizations (Local and International).
